To be more direct, if plastic surgeon is recognized by the Board, then he is considered a doctor who developed his skills and is properly trained to perform surgeries. He is held in the highest regard by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and is considered to be a diplomat of that organization.

The board itself is trying to protect the patients by educating the doctors. It will never approve thw work of those plastic surgeons who do not have the certification of the American Board Of Plastic Surgery. Selected surgeons have proven their skills and knowledge before they are accepted. They have shown their education level, amount of practice, involvement with the community and in local hospitals. The final goal of The Board is to select best plastic surgeons in the market according to the requirements.

Any surgeon that doesn not have the qualifications to enter the board is considered to be unadequate to perform plastic surgeries. It is your duty to check is your surgeon certified or no because it will greatly reduce the risk of surgery and chances that you have a bad plastic surgery.
